The competition is over, the artists have completed their work, and the prizewinning entries are now at the East Hampton Town Airport.
... Linda Stein's bright red assemblage of old aeroplane parts catches the eye of voyagers arriving at the airport...
Linda Stein's lively red sculpture, which is five feet high and ten feet wide, brings to mind Snoopy and the Red Baron or ... "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines."
The artist, who lives in East Hampton and Manhattan and has a master's degree from the Pratt Institute, made this piece from actual airplane parts, including panels, exhaust manifolds, steering wheels, and a plane nose that she had picked up at airports throughout the tristate area.
Ms. Stein, whose sculpture is not usually so brightly monochromatic, has exhibited with Arlene Bujese Gallery and the Nabi Gallery on the East End, as well as the Anita Shapolsky Gallery in Manhattan.  This past April, she spent three weeks in Japan, showing off her work at the Sakai City Museum.
Anyone interested in seeing the artworks has been invited to attend a reception at the airport on Friday, June 19 at 3 p.m.
